Bringing about long-term social and functional recovery continues to be one of the biggest challenges in the treatment of early psychosis.  At OYHRC we are pioneering interventions targeting long-term recovery in psychosis through the integration of cutting-edge social media technologies, new psychological models and strong consumer-youth participation. Specifically, over the last 5 years a team of 25 professionals has pioneered a platform of research and a new model of online psychosocial interventions entitled Moderated Online Social Therapy (MOST™). MOST™ uniquely integrates online social networking, individually tailored psychosocial interventions and peer-to-peer and professional moderation in a single platform designed to provide a novel, engaging and safe therapeutic environment. The acceptability, safety and potential benefits of MOST™ have been investigated through a pilot study with young people with first episode psychosis. In addition, the effectiveness of MOST in improving long-term outcomes in early psychosis is being investigated through a large 5-year randomised controlled trial. This presentation will showcase MOST™, illustrate the development process and provide data on its initial treatment effects.
